If you are going to Cave Hill to walk the well-known trail toward **McArt's Fort**, the clearest parking choice is **Belfast Castle**. Belfast City Council identifies the trailhead at the **second car park on the main drive to Belfast Castle from Innisfayle Park**.

Cave Hill is much larger than the castle grounds, so there is no single car park for every possible walk. Official access points with parking include the Belfast Castle/Innisfayle side, **Grays Lane** and **Upper Hightown Road**.

Pick the car park for the walk you actually want

Do not assume all Cave Hill entrances lead to McArt's Fort in the same way. If you are following the main signed Cavehill Trail, start at Belfast Castle. If you are exploring another edge of the country park, use the relevant official access point rather than parking in a residential street and trying to join the route from an unofficial gap.
