Agnew Volkswagen Mallusk used cars in Newtownabbey

I have purchased my sixth Golf from Agnew Volkswagen, this time dealing in Mallusk with Ivan Cameron. Ivan is a breath of fresh air and a pleasure to deal with. His knowledge of Volkswagen systems is exceptional and he showed me everything I needed to know regarding the technology in the car which I wasn’t confident with initially. From the test drive (which was the best test drive I’ve had with a salesman) to the handover day, Ivan made the process straightforward and hassle free. Generally very positive. However, I had requested that they carried out the MOT check as my car was due for testing in 5 days. Their report advised that the brake pads were below the minimum but only recommended changing pads and discs at the same time. When I asked if the car would still pass the MOT I was told that it SHOULD. They couldn’t be sure as their mechanics were not MOT trained! Thought this was a bit odd as I was paying £40 for their pre mot check. In fairness they waived the fee but I’m still not sure if the car will pass or not.

Nice premises and staff professional. Was expecting a little more detail on the condition report not just a visual check of pads and disc. Measurements like there was on tyre report was expected. I got this level of detail with BMW. Wash was average and left with water marks. Oil and filter replaced promptly.

Can’t speak for Belfast, but I would strongly advise avoiding Mallusk based on my experience. I’ve bought two cars from there, and while the sales process was great on both occasions, everything changed once the deal was done. The aftersales experience with the second car was nothing short of shocking. My vehicle was damaged while diagnosing an issue, and the proposed fix felt more like an optional suggestion than any genuine attempt to put things right. It genuinely seemed like they couldn’t have cared less. There appeared to be little to no regard for the customer or the standards you would reasonably expect. What should have been a straightforward resolution only became worse once senior management became involved, who came across as stubborn, careless, and completely lacking in customer service. I’m not sure what has changed there in the senior management team, but the place has really gone downhill. My second experience was night-and-day different from the first. Overall, it was a deeply frustrating and disappointing experience, and a serious let-down for the wider Agnew Group. I would strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere for sure.
