Alfa Romeo Donnelly Mallusk used cars in Newtownabbey

I bought an Alfa Giulia recently from Donnelly Motor Group and the buying experience and attention to detail displayed by both Drew McVeigh and Colum was first class. Bought a Giulietta on 4 yrs PCP. Paid to have the car serviced every year at Donnelly’s. Shortly after the 3rd service, when driving to work one morning the engine warning light came on, all power went a few mins later and the car conked out at the side of the road. The car was out of manufacturer’s warranty but happily I had extended warranty from Donnelly’s. Called them and asked what to do, they advised to bring the car to them as only manufacturer’s warranty included recovery. I didn’t mind, but unfortunately it was St Pat’s day and no option for a jump so I had to pay for a tow. Left it with Donelly’s for a few days, they told me they couldn’t find a fault and so I took it back. A week or so later when driving into Belfast the same light came on, I knew I had a few mins before I was paying for another tow and managed to get it to Donnelly’s. I left it with them for a week, again they told me they couldn’t find a fault and so could take no action. Apparently the faults weren’t recorded by the car’s computer, v odd, and conveniently none of their tests met conditions for action to be taken under the extended warranty. So with absolutely no action whatsoever taken by Donnelly’s and not wanting to breakdown on my way to work again the following week, I cancelled the PCP and handed the car to the nominated auction service. The car sold for a couple of grand more than the remaining finance, so that was money down the drain for me and as for the buyer, well presumably they’ll end up taking it to Donelly’s who I’m sure will have some suggestions for the paying customer. My wife also has a Mito on PCP, this car didn’t like starting in the mornings, no one could work it out until there was a recall for a software issue. Down the line another software update brought back the starting issue, that had to be rolled back and since then at every service we need to ask for the software not to be updated. Didn’t cancel this PCP as too much of a deposit tied up in the car, paid the balloon payment and now take car to local garage. Whether the root of the Giulietta problem is Donnelly’s or Alfa, I don’t know, but I do know I’m out of pocket a couple of grand and wouldn’t but an Alfa from Donelly’s if they were having a 50% off sale.

Called in on Tuesday 21st July to look at Giulia Quadrifoglio that is on the forecourt. This is a £60k car and we were very serious potential buyers. It was for my wife. Despite the sales guys sitting behind their desks in the showroom, seeing us drive in and park and spending the guts of 15-20 minutes looking around the car not one person came out near us. Despite other Donnelly staff moving cars around the car park etc. Terrible treatment and service. Having bought previous cars from Bavarian, Charles Hurst, J&F Group etc the difference in attention could not be compared. Donnelly obviously have too much business they don’t need it, off to Bavarian we go to buy an M4!!

Got my beautiful Alfa Giulia from Jonny at Donnellys and couldn't be happier. Customer service was first class and the whole sales process was hassle free from start to finish. I wouldnt think twice about buying from Donnellys again. Thanks again Jonny!
