I purchased a used car from Charles Hurst and the after‑sales experience has been nothing short of unacceptable. I reported a tensioner issue within warranty, but the garage repeatedly delayed the repair. I was advised the car was “safe to drive”, yet shortly afterwards the alternator failed. Despite this, the alternator was declared “not covered”, under warranty leaving me facing a £1900 bill. After much debating and seeking the advice of a solicitor, they eventually agreed to accept liability and pay for the part their delay had cause to fail. However, the repair process dragged on for months (I left in my car on 12th January 2026 and did not get it back until 23rd May 2026). The first alternator they ordered was faulty, and the second one, which I waited weeks for, turned out to be the wrong part entirely. I was also denied a courtesy car for months, only receiving one on 20th March after escalating complaints to the garage and head office. Communication throughout has been inconsistent and contradictory, and I was repeatedly left without clear timeframes or updates. I have never been given a formal apology from the garage and Lookers did not even respond to my complaint. I had to involve a solicitor to advise due to the ongoing delays, poor communication, and the financial and practical impact of being without a vehicle for so long. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this dealership.

Problems after problems. Starting from the appointment booking, car annual service history request and recent ABS sensor fix. After being ABS sensor fixed, my car is jerking whenever I start the car and getting the error message (ABS sensor fault) on the dashboard. I am highly disappointed with the service.

Definitely would not recommend Charles Hurst to anyone. Bought a car 30th December 2025 from Charles Hurst Vauxhall Portadown not even 2 weeks later bad oil leak, within 3 months of buying it engine fault repair needed kept appearing and car going into limp mode, got car took down to them from Antrim they had our car for over 3 weeks and didn't have a clue what was wrong with it, didn't even have a courtesy car. Went to pick it up and asked was the timing belt changed before we bought it as its a wet belt the man Brian said no we change our cars timing belts at 60000 miles even tho we didn't buy the car till it was 65000. Just had the car in with Charles Hurst Peugeot recommended by this dealership for the timing belt cost £600 and they are looking a further £900 for more work needs done 4 new tyres break pads and discs. Should this work not have all been completed before we bought the car under 6 months ago! Don't buy anything from them they are selling cars that aren't fit for the road. Also asked the receptionist to email all paperwork for the car and work that had been done to it be sent over and yet we are still waiting!

We were told that the issue with our vehicles radio/notification system was very uncommon, but seeing as this was the case that there would be a good will gesture from Vauxhall as it was a faulty unit that was fitted. We were later told that to replace the radio would cost over £1300 despite it being a faulty unit that was fixed. I was later informed by a serving Vauxhall technician that this is in fact quite a common issue and that this would have been known before the diagnostics procedure and therefore we unnecessarily paid the best part of £180 just for the sake of it. I have been a Vauxhall customer for over twenty years for both my private and fleet vehicles but rest assured that has come to an end.

Title: Mixed Experiences at Charles Hurst Vauxhall Craigavon - 2 Stars Review: My latest service experience at Charles Hurst Vauxhall Craigavon for the 63k interval service was notably different. I was initially advised to be the first appointment on the service ramp, but due to the company’s policy of overbooking to compensate for potential no-shows, my slot was pushed back to post-lunchtime, starting at 2pm. This change was neither agreed upon nor communicated prior to my arrival, leading to an unexpected delay. The establishment has become inconsistent, a stark contrast to my 52k service interval experience. The hourly labour rates are exorbitant at £130/hr. I was informed that a minimum of 6 hours of labour would be charged, excluding parts, with a starting fee of £800 plus the cost of parts—which were supplied by me in advance. Unlike my previous visit, the car was not valeted, prompting me to withdraw my vehicle from service. Reflecting on last year’s visit, it was a vast improvement from our prior review of the Charles Hurst Group over two years ago, which was also negative. During my 52k interval service, the booking process was seamless, and I encountered no issues. Caoimhe McCardle, the service advisor, was delightful, and her kindness was evident throughout my interaction. The complimentary beverage machine and Wi-Fi provided a comfortable waiting experience, complete with a variety of magazines and television entertainment. The car was thoroughly washed and looked impeccable. The pricing for the services rendered was also reasonable. However, the sales management team, located adjacent to the waiting area, seemed disengaged. With the exception of one attentive individual near the service counter, the rest of the team, including their manager, failed to acknowledge my presence. The manager appeared preoccupied with a meeting focused on training for mystery shopper awareness, which I inadvertently overheard due to the open office door. This lack of attention to actual customers in the waiting area was disappointing. Sales Team Consistency: Regrettably, the standard of engagement from the sales team remained unchanged from my last visit. The team’s disconnection from the customers was palpable, mirroring the same issues I encountered previously. Despite being in close proximity to the waiting area, the sales team, including the manager, seemed more invested in internal matters than in acknowledging and interacting with customers present. This persistent oversight suggests a need for a shift in focus towards customer engagement and service.
