Holmes Motors used cars in Holywood

Would give 0 star if I could. I bought a car from him in August 2025. It was advertised as having 94,000 miles. Just three weeks later, the engine management light came on. I took it to my mechanic, who discovered the car had actually done over 120,000 miles. From then on, the car was nothing but problems. I spent over £2,000 on repairs trying to keep it roadworthy, but despite all the work and money put into it, I had no choice but to scrap it. Based on my experience, I would not recommend buying from this dealer. When I contacted him he was nothing but round and told me to not contact him again and to go through a solicitor.

Would give 0 if could. For a part that cost £5 and require 15 minutes for mechanic to fit I was charged £100 because mechanic decided to replace whole unit, rather than the faulty part. Do kot recommend. They have also diagnosed one electrical issue with my car and quoted about £500 to fix. When came back to my old mechanic (unfortunately could not use him for above repair as he need at least 2 weeks to book an appointment and that job was urgent) he gave totally differ different diagnose and fixed the issue. Charge £50 and car runs perfectly. He said that my issue had nothing to do with the diagnosis done by Holmes.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!! Absolutely shameful company - my daughter dropped her car in for a quotation after slight bumper damage. Mr Holmes quoted an extortionate amount of money to repair the damage. The quote exceeded the value of the car itself which was ridiculous. Mr Holmes was clearly chancing his luck and taking advantage of a young female driver. I decided to call a couple alternative shops for a more reasonable valuation. I ended up going with a company that fixed the vehicle for 5x LESS of what Mr Holmes quoted. You would think that in todays economic environment a company like Holmes Motors wouldn't act in such a dishonourable manner. After skim reading through a few of their reviews it's obvious that this isn't the first instance. Disgusting.

Honestly wouldn't waste my time with these guys. Called Sam regarding an i40 he had advertised. Asked him if the car was damaged or had an evidence of damage and he said absolutely not, only a few paint chips. I drove 3 hours to buy the car and within 2 minutes of looking at it, there was very clear evidence of the car being damaged on two separate sides and a cheap, unprofessional attempt to repair it having been done. Wouldn't have even considered travelling to buy the car if he was honest about its poor condition!!

Mr Homes and his staff can't do enough to help you. I know nothing about cars. They took their time explaining everything and when I needed the mot they even took the car for me. Nothing is to small even months after i got my car they where happy to give me advice. Will i go back yes will I buy from them again yes.
