I purchased a Nissan Juke from Moores in August 2022 for £5000. It had 101,000 miles and the salesman told me it was a great car, Engine and body was immaculate. Unfortunately I am not knowledgeable enough on cars so I trusted the seller as it is a local & well known car dealer. After 6 months parts here and there started failing costing a couple of hundred pound each time. Unfortunately the car came with a 3 month warranty so nothing was covered. From August 2023 (just over 14k miles since purchase) the car started dying when I had the car turned on but not in gear. At the end of September (15k miles since purchase) the car died whilst I was driving through a crossroads, luckily I got it started and en route to my mechanic it died again and wouldn't start after that. My mechanic explained the Timing chain had gone and in his opinion it wouldn't be worth replacing as you could get an engine for not much more (£1000+) and even then financially wouldn't be worth replacing. After speaking to a few people that know more than myself in regards to cars they said most cars need it replaced at the 100,000 mile mark which Moore's hadn't done (I wasn't aware that something like that would need done after only 1 year). This is when I called Moore's to ask what recourse I had, as the car had only driven 15,000 miles for £5000 plus several mechanical fixes over a 13 month period. The Salesman in exact quotations replied "Thats just the way it goes, one minute it's running fine and then the timing chain goes, then the cars done. So there's nothing we can do". When you get after sales care and words of wisdom like this why shop for cars anywhere else. Put simply even if you have car knowledge I'd still steer clear. Unfortunately, after speaking to several people after this issue, who told me I should've gone elsewhere, if only I had known this sooner.
