Going there to buy a camper from Richard’s Motorhome? It’s still not too late to read this. We bought a camper from these people, and it was our first time buying one. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. We felt pressured into making a quick decision, with unnecessary panic and rushing that distracted us from properly checking everything. We were told that the camper only needed VRT, which we understood to mean it had already been registered in Northern Ireland for over 5 months. Anyone selling campers knows the importance of this information. It turned out not to be true — the camper was actually a UK-imported vehicle that had only recently been registered in NI. This resulted in us having to pay VRT (13%) plus VAT (23%), which was a major unexpected cost. After the purchase, we found many things missing, broken, or damaged on the camper. We accept that we also made mistakes by not being more careful, but the way the situation was handled left us with a very bad feeling. Please be extremely cautious and take your time. Do not hand over any money until you are 100% satisfied and completely sure about what you are buying. Check every detail, documents, and history yourself. The whole experience left us with a very uncomfortable feeling. Make sure you know exactly what you are getting before committing.
