Ulster Kart Club heads to Nutts Corner for 2026 Round 8 on 10 October

Ulster Kart Club returns to Nutts Corner Circuit on Saturday 10 October for Round 8 of its 2026 championship season.

Ulster Kart Club will return to Nutts Corner Circuit on Saturday 10 October for Round 8 of its 2026 championship. The meeting is the latest date in a season that has kept Northern Ireland karting active from March through October, with the Dundrod-area venue serving as the club's regular home.

The Association of Northern Ireland Motor Clubs lists the 10 October meeting as a UKC kart race at Nutts Corner. The club's published 2026 calendar also identifies it as Round 8, following championship meetings throughout spring and summer plus the two-day International Grand Prix in August.

Wide range of classes

Ulster Kart Club's 2026 events have catered for drivers from the earliest Bambino categories through to senior competition. Alpha Timing listings for the season include Bambino, Cadet, Rotax Inter, Junior Max, Senior Max and Tillotson T4 classes, alongside other variants and weight categories.

That class structure is important because karting is not one single level of racing. Younger drivers begin in machinery designed for their age and experience before progressing through faster categories. Senior racers then compete in classes where setup, tyre management and racecraft become increasingly important.

Nutts Corner as the season base

The 2026 calendar has repeatedly returned to Nutts Corner. Championship dates were published for March, April, May, June, July, September and October, with the UKC International Grand Prix held across 15-16 August.

Using one primary venue gives competitors a consistent reference point. Teams can compare setup data across the season, while drivers learn how the circuit changes with temperature, rubber build-up and weather.

What Round 8 means

By October, championship racing becomes less forgiving. Drivers who have built points over the year may be protecting a position, while others have to attack if they want to move up the standings. A mistake that would have been recoverable in April can become decisive at the end of the season.

The meeting is also a useful opportunity for spectators who want to understand karting. Unlike major car or motorcycle events, kart racing puts fans close to the machinery and makes the differences between classes easy to see over the course of a full day.

Checking final information

Competitors should use Ulster Kart Club and Alpha Timing for the final entry list, timetable and championship information. Motorsport dates can change, and the organiser's event documentation should always take priority over an early calendar listing.

PureCar Motorsport will expand its karting coverage with results and championship updates as the 2026 season reaches its closing rounds.

How a kart meeting is normally decided

Kart meetings are built around short, intense sessions rather than one long race. Practice and qualifying establish the early order before heats and finals determine the result, with the exact format depending on the class and event regulations. Because the laps are short, a poor start or one lost position can be difficult to recover.

Slipstreaming can also be decisive. Drivers may work together temporarily to close on the leaders before fighting for position in the final laps, so racecraft is every bit as important as outright qualifying speed.

Why late-season points matter

By Round 8, championship contenders have very little time left to recover from a non-finish. Reliability, penalties and contact become especially important because a single zero score can outweigh several strong earlier results. Teams therefore have to balance aggression with the need to finish.

The final published standings should always be checked through the club's official timing and championship systems. Provisional results can change after technical checks or penalties, particularly in tightly regulated kart classes.
