The code appears on a Penalty Charge Notice so that the particular parking or bus-lane contravention being alleged can be identified.
The standard Northern Ireland PCN charge is £90.
A 50% discount reduces this to £45 when payment is made within the first 14 days.
If the case progresses to a Charge Certificate, the amount increases to £135.
Check that the registration, location, date, time and contravention code shown on the notice match the circumstances.
