Can an employee appeal a private parking ticket at their workplace?

If you were authorised to park for work, ask the employer, retailer or facilities team whether your registration should have been entered on an exemption list. A missed registration update, replacement vehicle or temporary assignment can trigger an automated charge even where parking was permitted.

Provide evidence of your shift, site access, permit or employer confirmation. Ask the landowner or employer to contact the parking operator directly if they have contractual control over the site.

Do not wait for internal discussions until after the parking appeal deadline has passed. Send a protective appeal to the operator as well, explaining that you were an authorised worker and that site management is being asked to confirm permission.

In Northern Ireland, private parking disputes are civil matters and the Consumer Council distinguishes driver liability from registered-keeper status. Always separate a private Parking Charge Notice from an official Penalty Charge Notice because the appeal and enforcement routes are different.
