Can I appeal a private parking charge if the ANPR camera is wrong?

ANPR records the vehicle entering and leaving a camera zone; it does not necessarily prove the exact period the vehicle was parked in a bay. Errors can also arise from number-plate misreads, duplicate visits, incorrect timestamps or a vehicle entering and leaving without parking.

Ask the operator for the photographs and timestamps it relies on. Compare them with receipts, phone-location records, dashcam footage or other evidence you legitimately have. If you visited twice in one day, explain that clearly because two separate trips can sometimes be incorrectly treated as one long stay.

A strong appeal identifies the specific factual problem rather than making a general accusation about cameras. Keep copies of every image and response in case the matter proceeds to an independent appeal or court.
