Can I ask PSNI for speed camera evidence before accepting a fixed penalty?

Camera cases are supported by photographic or video evidence, according to PSNI. The first priority is to comply with any statutory driver-identification request.

If you later choose a court hearing, evidential disclosure is governed by the court process. A request for photographs at the NIP stage is not a substitute for identifying the driver where the law requires it.

Keep communication in writing where possible and record dates. If the notice contains an obvious error in the vehicle, time or location, contact the NIRSP promptly using the number or details printed on the notice.

Police fixed penalties and camera notices are not private debts. Read the response deadline carefully, comply with any separate legal requirement to identify the driver, and use the court-hearing route if you genuinely dispute an allegation that cannot be resolved administratively.
