Yellow Line Parking Rules in Northern Ireland
Single and double yellow lines control waiting and parking, but the exact restriction can depend on signs and controlled parking zones.
Single yellow
Single yellow lines restrict waiting during stated times.
The operating times are normally shown by nearby signs or by signs at the entrance to a controlled parking zone.
Double yellow
Double yellow lines mean no waiting at any time.
The Northern Ireland Highway Code states that double yellow lines prohibit waiting at any time, including where there is no upright time plate.
Other restrictions
Waiting restrictions are not the only controls you may encounter.
Loading restrictions, clearways, school entrance markings, disabled bays and other parking controls can have separate signs and markings.
Before parking
Check the whole location, not just the line beside the car.
Look for nearby plates, zone-entry signs, bay markings and kerb markings before leaving the vehicle.
