Can I challenge a parking PCN if the road markings were faded?

Take clear photographs showing the whole parking location, the vehicle position if possible, nearby signs and the condition of the lines from normal viewing distance. A close-up alone may not show how the restriction appeared to a driver.

Explain exactly what was unclear: for example a bay termination, yellow line, disabled-bay marking or loading restriction. The enforcement authority can compare your evidence with its own photographs.

Submit the challenge promptly and keep the original image files with dates. The fact that paint is imperfect does not automatically cancel a PCN; the question is whether the restriction was sufficiently clear in the actual circumstances.

Official parking PCNs follow a statutory Northern Ireland process. The safest approach is to use each stage on time—challenge, Notice to Owner, formal representation and, if necessary, independent adjudication—rather than relying on private-parking advice.
