Can I challenge a parking PCN if the sign was missing or hidden?

Photograph the approach to the parking place, the location of any signposts, trees or street furniture blocking the view, and the wording of the nearest visible sign.

Explain the restriction you were alleged to breach and why the sign needed to communicate it. If you return later, note that signs may have changed, so contemporaneous photographs are best.

The authority will consider its own evidence and the applicable traffic restriction. A strong challenge focuses on what a reasonable motorist could actually see at the time, rather than simply stating that you personally did not notice the sign.

Official parking PCNs follow a statutory Northern Ireland process. The safest approach is to use each stage on time—challenge, Notice to Owner, formal representation and, if necessary, independent adjudication—rather than relying on private-parking advice.
