How does parking at Portrush Harbour Road differ from East Strand?
Portrush Harbour Road car park is smaller, more expensive and charged later in the evening than East Strand. Harbour Road is listed at £1 per hour from 8.30am to 9.30pm daily all year; East Strand is 50p per hour from 8.30am to 6.30pm daily all year.
Local car park, route and access details
The council lists only 36 spaces at Harbour Road, compared with 537 at East Strand. Harbour Road is therefore a more directly harbour-focused option but less suitable if you are counting on many spaces at peak visiting times. An evening meal or harbour visit can still fall within Harbour Road’s charged hours even after East Strand’s pay-and-display period has finished.
What to check before travelling
Do not assume that leaving a car at Harbour Road after 6.30pm is free simply because other Portrush council car parks stop charging then. Read the entry sign and pay for the particular car park where you have stopped. If parking around the harbour is full, consider whether East Strand or another named Portrush site suits the walk you are prepared to make.
