Will I lose the parking PCN discount if I challenge within 14 days?

If the challenge is rejected, the reply should give you a new discount deadline. This allows an early challenge without automatically sacrificing the reduced amount simply because the authority took time to respond.

Submit the challenge through the official service or in writing and keep evidence of the submission date. Do not send payment at the same time if you intend to contest liability, because payment can close the case.

If you challenge after the discount period has already expired and the ticket is upheld, the full charge can apply. The dates on the PCN and response letters therefore matter.

Official parking PCNs follow a statutory Northern Ireland process. The safest approach is to use each stage on time—challenge, Notice to Owner, formal representation and, if necessary, independent adjudication—rather than relying on private-parking advice.
