Choosing another centre can help
DVA states that waiting times vary between centres and drivers may sometimes find an earlier test at another location.
How to compare Northern Ireland MOT test centres
The nearest test centre is not automatically the only location worth checking. Appointment availability and specialist vehicle-test services can differ across the DVA network.
Compare appointment locations
If you can reasonably travel, compare several DVA centres before accepting a much later appointment at the first location you search.
Balance any earlier date against the additional journey time and fuel cost.
Check the vehicle category
Private-car MOT testing is widely available, but specialist services are not identical at every centre.
Selected locations provide services such as quads, CDG/ADR, IVA-related work, taximeter testing and vehicle identity checks.
Check the individual centre page
Each PureCar centre guide shows the DVA address, postcode, vehicle-test categories, nearby areas, map and useful alternative centres.
Choosing a centre for an ordinary car MOT
For most private cars, the main considerations are location and appointment availability. Decide which centres are realistically within travelling distance and then compare the appointments actually offered by DVA.
You do not need to treat the centre closest to your home as your only option. If another practical location offers a substantially more useful appointment date, it may be worth considering.
Once you make a booking, keep the DVA confirmation. The government booking record remains the authoritative source for your vehicle, centre, date and appointment time.
Check your vehicle online
