The code appears on a Penalty Charge Notice so that the particular parking or bus-lane contravention being alleged can be identified.

How much can the ticket cost?

The standard Northern Ireland PCN charge is £90.

A 50% discount reduces this to £45 when payment is made within the first 14 days.

If the case progresses to a Charge Certificate, the amount increases to £135.

Code 45 applies when a vehicle other than a permitted taxi parks on a taxi rank. Within the Belfast Zone only Class B taxis may use taxi ranks; outside the Belfast Zone both Class A and Class B taxis may use them.
