How do I reach Portaferry from Newtownards by car?

Portaferry lies at the southern tip of the Ards Peninsula.

Portaferry lies at the southern tip of the Ards Peninsula.

From Newtownards, follow the peninsula roads south through the eastern side of Strangford Lough towards Portaferry. You do not need the Strangford ferry to reach Portaferry when starting from Newtownards; the ferry is for crossing to the western shore near Strangford village. Set Portaferry town centre or the exact ferry terminal as your destination, and leave time for narrower roads through settlements.
