Which motorway connection should I use from Belfast towards Newry and the A1?
From Belfast, the M1 is the main motorway approach towards Lisburn and the A1 corridor for Newry.

The A1 then continues south towards the border. This is different from the A4 journey towards Enniskillen or the A6 journey towards Derry, even though roads intersect farther west.
