Derry City and Strabane council lists Simpson’s Brae, BT47 6DL, as a free off-street car park in the Waterside area, with 11 spaces. Spencer Road, BT47 6QA, is also on the Waterside side but is chargeable.

Spencer Road has 49 spaces and a 70p-per-hour tariff from 8.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Saturday. The council’s car-park list also includes free Shantallow Health Centre parking at BT48 8NL, but that is not a substitute for Waterside parking because it is in a different part of the city. Location matters as much as whether a site is free.
What to check before travelling
For a short visit near Simpson’s Brae, look up that exact council facility and plan an alternative because it is a very small car park. For Spencer Road, use RingGo code 50152 if paying by app. Do not presume roadside bays outside either car park share the same payment conditions.
