Penalty points are recorded on your driver record when an endorsable motoring offence is processed. Northern Ireland still uses the paper counterpart alongside the photocard licence, and endorsement information can appear there.
If you need to check endorsement details and do not have the relevant licence information available, nidirect currently directs drivers to DVA customer services on 0300 200 7861.
If incorrect endorsement details appear on your driving licence, official NI guidance says to contact the court that convicted you for advice.
DVA records the endorsement, but it does not independently overturn the underlying conviction.
Where PSNI has taken your licence for endorsement, it can pass through the Fixed Penalty Office before being returned. The official guidance says this process can take up to 12 weeks.
