If you accumulate six or more penalty points within two years of passing your first driving test, your licence is automatically revoked under the New Drivers Order.

Revocation under the New Drivers Order is different from a court-imposed driving disqualification.
You can receive penalty points while still holding a provisional licence. If those points remain valid when you pass your test, they count towards the new-driver threshold.
If you already have six points when you pass, the provisional licence is not revoked merely because you pass. But further points obtained during the two-year probationary period can trigger revocation.
After revocation, you must apply and pay for another provisional licence and comply with learner-driver requirements.
You must then pass the relevant theory and practical tests again before regaining a full licence.
