You can also apply by post using a DL1 driving licence application form. The official Northern Ireland guidance says DL1 is available from main Post Office branches.

From 1 October 2026, holders of a GB provisional licence will not be able to book or take Category A, A1, A2 or B theory or practical tests in Northern Ireland. For those tests, the official guidance states that an NI provisional licence will be required.
