DVA publishes a processing aim for fully completed applications, but identity, personal-detail and medical checks can make an application take longer.
The current official renewal guidance says DVA aims to process a licence within 10 working days of receiving a fully completed application.
This is a processing aim rather than a guarantee that every licence will arrive within ten working days.
DVA says applications can take longer when health or personal details need to be checked. Official guidance advises allowing at least six weeks for the licence to arrive.
If the licence has not arrived six weeks after the application was made, the official guidance says to contact DVA Driver Licensing.
DVA also warns that if you do not report non-arrival within ten weeks, you may need to apply for a duplicate licence and pay the relevant fee.
